Sheet vinyl is glued to the subfloor, and then installers place transition strips between rooms and molding around the room. The sheet can be attached to the subfloor around the room's perimeter, or the entire sheet can be fastened down with an adhesive. Installers may place underlayment on uneven floors. Loose lay is a less permanent flooring option. This type of floor covering is designed to take advantage of friction to stay in place. Double-sided tape can also be used, especially around doorways where a lot of foot traffic can be expected.
